The blatant disregard for the speed limit on the 401. Pushed just under 120 km/h the whole way. Got passed a lot. Speed limit is 100.

Kinja'd!!!

Speeding on the 401 doesn't cost you anything as log as you have radar shield protection (which is extremely plentiful at even pretty high speeds).

Anyways since everybody drives 120 km\h anyways it would be nice if that was the actual speed limit. No, if they raise the limit to 120 I will not do 140. My car is terrifying at that speed.

Where I live 120kmh is about the minimum speed people will drive on a highway.

That's good. Utah and places have decent speed limits. Ontario does not. But on Highway 401 everyone just goes fast anyways. It's kind of awesome.

When I came up to Ontario Last year I drove 100 on the 401 the whole time. I had no idea how likely I would be to get a ticket so I didn't speed. I felt like I was sitting still.

Way off-topic, but whatever. Until now, I hadn't noticed how similar Challenger Motor Freight's livery is to that of the RCMP.

All because the speed limit is too damm low. Just drove from Vaughan to Hamilton (at McMaster) and it was 130 all the way down (400, 401, 427, QEW, 403)... I think people are just not giving a crap about the limit anymore, I see OPP doing 140 on the 407 on the regular, and that's just keeping up with traffic.

I was clearly a foreigner! My van also went into limp mode so driving slower did probably help my get further before that happened.

When I was doing my driving test, a portion of it was on the 401, and because it was the test, I kept to the speed limit. The results of the test said I was too slow on the highway portion.

I have never been on the 407. Isn;t the toll like your left arm or something? :P

But yeah going 120 on the 401....cop goes by going 140.....keep going 120. Heh,

I dont think I've ever seen a cruiser on the 400s doing 140. Never that slow, unless they are coming up to their exit...

The 417 in Ottawa is slower than the 401, if you do 120 on the 417 you will get a ticket. I don't even think they do enforcement on the 401 in toronto. I've never seen anyone pulled over.

T Dot is sketchy I agree they do enfoce but not a huge amount. Go west however... Never speed in Chatham Kent. They will put a cruiser at EVERY overpass. This is not an exaggeration. I have traveled from Windsor to London and not seen a clear patch. They don't bust under 120 unless it's a slow month.

Same thing in Saskatchewan (and probably everywhere else). Highway 16, even the two-lane (one in each direction, separated by a thin splash of paint) section had people passing me all the time when I was doing 120. Seriously, though, if you're driving between Winnipeg and Edmonton, going 130 instead of 100 will cut several hours out of the trip.

Wow. I've never been to that part of Ontario before. I'd like to go though someday. Explore all the places. Kingston is another place they like to bust you at 120. But east of toronto that's about it. I did 120 past a cop with a radar gun today and nothing happened haha.

In 2003 Saskatchewan raised some of their speed limits to 110 km/h. Ontario has never followed suit. We should.

On the subject of Challenger Motor Freight, there was a time someone parked a truck not unlike the example posted in front of my house. He later got a different truck (not with Challenger), and still parked it there for a couple more years.

Only on divided highways, though. Everyone mostly still drives at 110+, regardless of type of road, or whether it's even paved... half the road network in the province is gravel.

Guess he was a truck driver. I don;t ever remember seeing a big rig down there. I lived near the corner of Castlefrank and Katamivik for a few years.
